About Dear Elaan:

Elaan began making jewelry in 2007 when she wanted a piece to represent her new mom status but couldn’t find anything she liked. She has art and creativity running through her veins (hi, mom and dad!) so she found an adult ed class at the local community college that taught beginning metalsmithing. There were many years between then and now that didn’t include metalsmithing as the main focus or job, but those were the boring years we like to forget to talk about! Elaan Greenfield Designs was born when her son was old enough that having a torch in the house wasn’t too insane and that became Dear Elaan. In addition to this jewelry business, Elaan owns The Metal Smithery which is a metals school and community studio space in Ithaca, NY. She loves all things metal so she teaches the craft, promotes it, empowers with it, learns about it, values it, dreams about it, wears it, and talks endlessly about it.

Everything is designed and made by Elaan.

Elaan’s first jewelry desk/bench was in her kitchen, then the dining room became the jewelry studio, then she moved the studio out of the house, and now the studio is much bigger and is located behind her school.
